Christmas ornament with the Cricut

I know Christmas is over, but I was so busy before Christmas I didn't have time to post.
This year I added a Puppy Tree to our collection of Christmas trees. I took matt & shiney pearl white bulbs

and cut dog silhouettes with black vinyl on the Cricut. I pressed the vinyl onto the bulbs and smoothed out the edges with a bone folder. The picture didn't turn out very well but the bulbs look great on the tree.
I made homemade dog treats and sprayed a clear coat to make them shine. I also made the dog tags with the Cricut. I used rubons for each of the dogs names. All in all I think it turned out pretty cute.

Tyler and Kyle wearing Andrews hat.
Uncle Richard, Aunt Janet, Aunt Betty Ann
Aunt Marcia, Uncle Irvin and Mom (Arlene)

I still need to add a picture of Uncle Irvins house at the bottom of this picture. He passed away this year.

Calender pages

Life has been so busy lately and I haven't had time to do anything scrapbook related but every year I make a calender for my Mom's Christmas gift. Here are a few of the pages:
The first picture is of my Mom with the 3 oldest grandkids.

This is the 5 of us at the Nelson Pioneer Farm where we had the reception. The bottom picture is of big Sister Erica getting her dance in with Tyler.
Tyler and Emma took their wedding clothes on their honeymoon with them to get pictures on the beach. They turned out so good. And the water behind them looks wonderful.
This past Easter we took pictures of my Mom with all the Grands. All of the girls in the first picture and the boys in the bottom picture.
Here is us 5 kids with Mom and Dad
My Grandma Phillips is in this picture. All of the pages are pretty simple. Mom is more into the pictures than the scrapbooking part of it. It was a great way to use up some of my older papers and scraps. The next 6 calender pages will be next week.

Scrapbook Retreat

A couple weeks ago Erica and I spent the weekend in Tennessee, Illinois at the Camp LaMoine Christian Womens scrapbook retreat. We always have so much fun and especially this year since Erica has moved over an hour away, it gave us a full weekend of talking, scrapbooking and enjoying the great outdoors.
We get to spend time with Roger's cousin Judy and her friends. We're so thankful Judy invited us to the retreat 3 years ago.
In between eating the wonderful meals they prepare at the camp and walking around the grounds, it's beautiful in the fall, we get some scrapbooking done. You've never seen people pack in so much stuff. Some of the ladies move in large wood storage pieces and plastic carts for all of their supplies. Here's Judy scrapping away.

Pictures of Erica

Here's a layout I did last weekend at the scrapbook retreat Erica and I went to. It was a quick and easy layout, just like I like them. Sorry for the glare on the pictures. I guess I didn't take the flash off. I love the calender spot by Jenni Bowlin, a quick way to add the month and day with out writing it out. I hate my hand writing. You can see more of the calender cards here. And some of the other Jenni Bowlin embellishments.

Puppy Pictures

I know you've been patiently waiting for puppy pictures. It's been a loooong time since I posted pictures of our sweet sweet puppy. I know, she's not a puppy anymore but she'll always be a puppy in our eyes. You can tell from the look on her face that she's not amused with her costume. But she makes the cutest Bumble Bee. She's pretty good at getting the costume off by herself but if she needs help she just gives Tyler her sad puppy dog eyes and he helps her.
She doesn't like posing for pictures either and she can pout with the best of them. But I did get a few pictures. Hope you all are having a Happy Fall.

A new card

Here's a quick and easy card I made over the weekend. You'll find all of my cards are quick and easy. Life's to short and I have to much scrapbooking I need to do to put hours into a card.

I just love the little Jenni Bowlin calender cards. They add just the right touch. And they would be great on a scrapbook layout too. You can go here to order more Jenni Bowlin embellishments. Or just contact me at www.papermemories4u@yahoo.com
Happy Scrapping!

A few treats from the weekend

This past weekend I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Deanna from Creative Hearts Retreats. I was a vendor at the weekend retreat she held in Des Moines, the ladies had a wonderful time and Deanna is a great cook. There was lots of laughs, fun, food and prizes. I did get a chance to create a few things.
The cappaccino cup is quick and easy to make. They make great gifts with a sample of coffee beans, hot chocolate or tea tucked inside.
The pumpkins turned out adorable. The picture isn't doing them justice. They are quick and easy to make with a scallop punch. You can make them with any size scallop punch you have. Wouldn't they be cute at the Thanksgiving table? Today I think I'm going to try and add them to a card. It would make a great 3D embellishment.

Going Green

Everyone is going Green it seems and as crafters we already look for scraps of this and that to use in our crafts. Why not use the packaging our craft supplies come in. Here is the package that brads came in.
Take out the insert, lay it on top of the paper you are using. Trace and then trim the paper. Insert it into your package and embellish. Very easy and a great way to use up scraps. I added Dove chocolate treats to my package.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to say I gave this to a friend? OH, Come on, we all know me and you know that chocolate was gone as soon as I took the picture.
Have a great day and go scrap something!

A little peek into Miss Taft's class room

Roger and I went to Marshalltown to visit Erica a few weeks ago and she let us have a little tour around the school and her class room. She hasn't had time to add any personal touches to her class room yet but she has had time to organize. Wonder where she gets that from.
Here is her VERY small desk. Low man on the totem pole gets small desk. She doesn't spend much time at her desk so it doesn't need to be very big.
Every good Christian school teacher teaches respect for others, yourself and God.

The bookcases and cubbies needed some organization and the kids helped clean out and organize each of their cubbyholes.
Hopefully next time the kids will be in class and I can get a picture of them with Miss Taft.
They have a field trip to Carroll's Pumpkin Farm this week. I'm not sure who's looking forward to it more, the kids or Miss Taft.

A very dear friend

I finally have pictures downloaded on my computer of a wonderful visit from a very sweet friend. Angela and her girls have a very special place in my heart and her family is just the sweetest. Ted, Angela and the girls moved to Minnesota almost 3 years ago and we've kept in touch by email and our blogs, but it just does a heart good to be able to hug and talk face to face with a friend. We spent long late night hours talking and laughing and sharing our lives and hearts with one another. It really does make me miss her even more.
This was taken before church on Sunday. I look like I'm half asleep and my camara was acting up so I was frustrated with it. I'm not really sure why our hair looks all glittery, I could say mine was the grey hair shining thru but thats not the case with Angela. She's way to young to even think about grey hair yet. She has a better picture with her camara so hopefully I look more awake in that one.

(Angela, I listened to my first Christmas song today, ssshhhhh-don't tell anyone)

Cards for World Card Making Day

Here are a few cards I made for WCMD. I also used them for the challenges over at AC Bailey Designs forums. This first one is made from craft plastic and I've made it for about a year and a half. I shared the design with the ladies from our church for the cards they send out. It's very easy and versatile. You can really change it up with the paper and stamps you use.

The snowman card was really fun to make. I know it seems a little early for winter cards but it was really cold and rainy today so it put me in the mood.
I used the Sizzix embosser and embossing folders I sell and embossed the swirls on the white strip and embossed the circles for the snowman. I then added stickles to the center of the swirls and snowflakes for a little sparkle. I used black stickles for the eyes and buttons on the snowman.
This is a quick and easy card using several of the products I sell for AC Bailey. I'm using it for my make n take this year. The black paper is embossed using the Sizzix embosser. The red strip is punched with our Fiskars border punch. We also sell Cricut cartridges and I used the Storybook cartridge to cut the white frame. I stamped a sentiment and then added stickles to the edges for the frame.
I used lots of leftovers on this card. I made a layout last week and used the left over patterned paper and kraft paper. I basically used the same design as the layout but changed it for a card. I used the same buttons and flowers.
This card is also made from scraps. I also used a felt flower and it came together very easy.
This is the card purse I used for my make n take last year when I worked for I Remember When. But you can change the papers and make it fit any occasion. This picture is of it laying on the floor but it stands up and looks like a mini purse. You then put a gift card inside or you could stamp a sentiment inside too.
I hope you had a productive World Card Making Day and you have cards made for the upcoming Christmas season. I wanted to get mine made this weekend but I'll have to do that another time.

National Card Making Day

Did you know that THIS Saturday October 3rd is World Card Making Day???
It began in 2006 as National Card Making Day. Founded by Paper Crafts magazine to bring card makers together at the beginning of the busiest card-making season of the year, it was first held on October 7, 2006. The initial celebration involved the Paper Crafts magazine audience only; however, due to the positive response it received and the worldwide popularity of card making, the holiday became known as World Card Making Day from then on. It is now in its fourth year, World Card Making Day is celebrated annually on the first Saturday in October. It's a day for the card-making community -- hobbyists, retailers, and manufacturers -- to unite and celebrate the connection and creativity that is the heart of card making. So, I went to the Papercrafts site and found this!

World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to Celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family as well as to kick off (and get a head start on) the holiday card-making season. Quick card

I have an overload of paper scraps from layouts I've done and I've decided I need to get them used up and clean out the drawer system I use for all of the scraps. So I made this quick card as a Thank you to a dear friends Mother. I played taxi driver for Mona and the wonderful ladies at Maple Ridge. They needed a van to transport some of the ladies and their walkers to Ramona's house for a garden tea party. It was wonderful. Ramona sat a beautiful table (wish I would of taken pictures) and Mel made a "to die for" caramel pumpkin spice cake. Yummmm!
Ramona shared her beautiful garden with us and I learned you can save geraniums thru the winter. I may have to try this.
So I wanted to give Ramona a little gift as a thank you for asking me to join them for tea. It wasn't much, just a card and a votive with flowers on it. She is so very sweet and she has raised a near perfect daughter, Mona, who is the dearest and best friend I could ever want. The Lord has blessed me richly with her friendship, spiritual guidance, prayer and unconditional acceptance, understanding and love. You don't get many friends like that in a life time but the Lord has blessed me richly.

Treats for the Teacher

Here are a few little treats I made for Erica's first day of teaching. Every teacher needs brand new #2 pencils and why not dress them up a bit with pretty paper and a ribbon with a flower on top.

This is a extra large binder clip I wrapped in coordinating paper and tied a few ribbons on the side to dress it up a bit. I found the picture and Teacher's Prayer on the internet and mounted them to matching paper also. (if you click on the picture it will enlarge it so you can read the Teachers Prayers)
And of course you need a cute note pad to write notes home to the parents about their little darlings and share what a wonderful day they had at school. Miss Taft loves her little 1st and 2nd graders and they love her so I'm sure the notes will always be pleasant.
