I have another 2 page layout for 2007 to share. I've been on a roll doing layouts lately. I hadn't scrapbooked for so long and really wanted to get back into it this year. I'm feeling pretty good about getting so many done.
I used a sheet of die cuts I bought several years ago so these pages went together very quickly. I can't remember where the paper is from but it went with the die cuts very well. The die cuts are distressed so I inked all the edges of the mats, swirls and flowers. I used a Martha Stewart border punch and inked them also. I think the metal brads in the center of the flowers are from Close To My Heart but I"m not sure.
I'll have some cards to share soon. Tomorrow I'm working on cards most of the day. I also have the new pink end caps for the E2, I'll share those pictures soon too.
A couple weeks ago my sweet daughter Erica was home for the weekend and I was surprised when she suggested we have a day of scrapbooking. Erica likes to scrapbook but it's not her first love, she's more of a reader and movie watcher. I would scrapbook over anything else. So I was really excited when she wanted to scrapbook.
We usually try to have a couple times a year when her and I go to a weekend crop together but with her teaching schedule it wasn't going to work this spring. So that Saturday we set up the TV and DVD player in my scrapbook room and set up tables for both of us. We're both fans of The Big Bang Theory and it's easy to watch it and scrapbook.
It was so nice to not have to pack everything up. Whatever we needed was right there. All the scrapbook supplies were there and I have a small frig with drinks and we brought snacks down with us.
Both of my Cricuts were handy and ready to go. I REALLY like not having to pack everything up. We ordered out for meals and scrapbooked all day and most of the night. I don't think we stopped until about midnight. I did get quite a bit done!
I can't believe I haven't used the poodle from the Create a Critter cartridge. I made this card for a friends little girl and the poodle is so cute. Of course most things on this cartridge are cute. I didn't use all of the layers because my scrap of pink paper wasn't big enough but I think it worked out. I used stickles on the bows and collar. Every little girl likes sparkles.
I'm having a love hate relationship with Web Resizer. If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it. Or if you use another program to work with your photos please let me know. I don't have Photo Shop so something that has a free download would be great.
These are the last two layouts from our vacation. One day we went to Gatlinburg, TN and seen some of the sights and ate at Bubba Gumps. That evening we played pool at the cabin we rented. Tyler drove part of the way home and Erica and I sat in the back seat and read. We usually see who can read the most books over vacation. I love to read but I only read on vacation, otherwise it takes time away from scrapbooking. I still need to journal on the two journaling blocks. Hate to journal! Of course we had to stop by Jegs on the way home. Roger and Tyler are both big car guys so you can't go near a Jegs without stopping.
This layout has taken me 2 weeks to finish. I NEVER take this long to do a layout and to be honest I haven't been working on it the whole time. Mostly I've been pushing pictures around and staring at the papers. This is the first time I've used a whole sheet of die cut paper and I guess I was intimidated by it. I just couldn't get the hang of it.
I started with the die cut paper and backed it with an aqua cardstock and then added the burgundy layer.
I've found that I love banners and want to use them all the time. For the life of me I couldn't find a banner I liked on my Cricut cartridges so I used the Small Banners stamp set from Pink By Design for the Snow letters. The letter stamps come in the stamp set so they fit perfectly in the banner. I used the Ashleyn's Alphabet cartridge for DOG and the Winter Lace cartridge for the snow flakes.
I take so many pictures on vacation its hard to fit them in a 2 page layout, so I usually end up with 6-8 layouts for vacation. This double page layout is from a day we went 4 wheeling to the top of a mountain. It was beautiful and scenic on the way up. And on the way down it was fun and muddy. For those that wanted to, we went thru several mud holes. We had to put our feet up high on the 4 wheelers to keep our feet out of the mud!
I'm still learning how to use Web Resizer and alter the image quality of my pictures. I'm still not doing very good with this. The colors are so much more vibrant in person. The 12x12 paper is Kraft paper and I used 2 different cardstocks and 3 patterned papers. The edges of some of the patterned paper are punched with a Martha Stewert punch that looks like mountain peaks. The ATV phrase, mud splotches and the 4 wheeler are all cut with the Dude cartridge.
When I do layouts I usually make the same layout for my son and daughter but with some minor changes. All the paper is from the same paper pack, DCWV, I think. But I used more florals on my daughters layouts. She would have liked the mud splotches that I put on my son's layout but she loved the flowers I made using script paper. So I just make small changes to show each of their personalities
I have the sweetest Son in the world! He stopped by last night before work (he works night shift) and gave me flowers and my all time favorite candy for Valentines Day. It takes an incredible man to buy a Valentines for his Mom! Especially when he's 25 yrs old. I can't believe he even remembered what my favorite candy is. He is a great man and some girl is going to be very blessed some day.
This is my Son Tyler, this isn't a great picture of us. He had just woke up, he sleeps during the day and works at night. And The Hubs was sitting down when he took the picture. You rarely get a good picture when the photographer is taking a picture up at you.
The Hubs and I did go to Jimmy Johns for supper and it was great as always. We went to see The Vow, it was sweet, but not what I was thinking it would be. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but I was a little disappointed, and there was some unneeded nudity. But we had a great night.
When we got home I did get to talk to my daughter so it made the night great. She was having a hard time with some life issues but we're praying about it and I'm sure it will all work out. She's a smart woman and she has a sweet heart so she doesn't take things lightly.
I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day and was able to spend time with all of their sweeties.
I hope everyone is having a Happy Valentines Day. I enjoy Valentines Day but I'm a pretty low maintenance gal. The Hubs and I went to Des Moines for a weekend away this past weekend and had a nice meal and spending time together so tonight will be pretty low key. He wanted to know where I wanted to go for supper and I really really wanted to go to Jimmy Johns so thats our supper plans. He is taking me to see The Vow after supper. I've heard its really good so I can't wait.
These are the cards I made for my kids. Their adults now but I still like to do a little something for them. I made a treat box with a little candy and a little surprise gift.
I used the Storybook cartridge for the scalloped heart and the printed center heart. I used scrap ribbon and a 6x6 paper pad I had. I didn't measure the card before I gave them to my kids but I think its around 4" wide.
I used Fiskar stamps for the inside and a Martha Stewart punch along the bottom.
I've been trying to use up my stash and I'm not always loving everything I make when I'm forced to use stuff I don't really like any more. I can't believe I ever bought these Valentine stickers, their not really my style.
But I used them anyway.
I cut the boxes from the Sweet Treats cartridge. I used fit to page but they still turned out pretty small.
The summer of 2007 our family went to the Smokey Mountains for our vacation. We rented a cabin in Seiverville, TN. There was only one other house beyond ours at the top of the mountain. I had never been afraid of wild animals in the mountains before but we were so far up the mountain and so remote that we made sure all the lights were on if we went outside at night.
We didn't really need a cabin this big but we enjoyed it. Erica took the top floor with the balcony, she had a bathroom and separate TV room on her level. Roger and I had the main level and Tyler had the bottom level that had the laundry room, bathroom, game room with a pool table and on his outside deck a hot tub.
One night the kids decided they were going to cook supper. Tyler grilled steaks and we hadn't checked the grills gas level and of course we're 45 minutes to the nearest town and the grill ran out of gas. So Erica and Tyler finished the steaks on the grill and we had a great supper. It was so nice of them to cook.
There wasn't enough room for all of the pictures I wanted to have in my layout so I used flip pages from Close to My Heart and added extra pictures and journaling. There are 2 separate flip pages on the left side. They really help when you need to add extras.
This is the second half of the calender pictures I made for my Mom for Christmas.
The first one here is of me and my brothers and sisters.
This is an old picture and the coloring isn't very good anymore. It was at a family reunion that had a 70's theme. This is of my Mom and her brothers and sisters. One sister and 2 brothers have passed away in the last couple years, so any pictures with them in it are extra special to her.
I love this picture of my kids in the ladybug ride at Branson, Mo. It's hard to believe they are 27 and 25 now.
This is my family. We're a small family but there is lots and lots of love.
This is my sister Tania's family. So many smiles!
My brother Derek's family. Their the only ones that have moved away from the town we grew up in. But he's not to far, it's only an hour and a half drive but we don't make it up there as often as we would like.
I didn't realize I hadn't posted pictures of the calender I made for my Mom for Christmas. It's very simple and really not my style. Mom would be happy if I slapped the pictures on a white page with no decorations, but I use this as a good time to use papers and stickers I no longer like or a great time to use scraps.
Sorry for the bad pictures. I took them Christmas Eve after Mom had opened her gift. I always start her calender in October but for some reason I'm always finishing it up at the last minute. I had it all wrapped a week before Christmas and realized I had forgotten to take pictures and I already had all my gift wrap put away and didn't want to rewrap her gift. So I waited until she opened it that night and took pictures real quick. The flash is glaring off most of the sentiment stickers.
The first picture is of my baby sisters family. The next one is of my brothers family. He's also the one in the last picture holding the biggest blessing our family got this year which is his new baby boy! Yup, he has twins that are 18 and graduating high school, a 9yr old. and now a new bundle of joy. The 3rd and 4th pictures are of all the kids at Easter. The fifth pictures is of my nephew graduating high school. And then the sweet little baby Cameron.
